First Attempt at Making Flat Moulds:

Step 1: take a small ball of clay and press it onto your surface to create a small circle or rectangle and blend the edges into the surface, getting it as flush to the surface as possible.

Step 2: create the main lines for example 2 edges for a cut or a circle for a bullet wound.

Step 3: use smaller balls in the centre of the sculpture and blend them then use your tools to add texture, add as much clay as you need to get it to the required depth.

Step 4: add texture to the outside of the clay using tin foil or a plastic bag to create the texture of skin.

Step 5: build a barrier about an inch away from the sculpture to hold the alginate in place while curing.

Step 6: pour the alginate or silicone over the clay to create the mould.



Step 7: Pour the plaster onto the alginate and allow to set, this can then be used to create prosthetics.

  Prosthetics Making and Experimentation: 15 th February 2021: Today I used my sculptures to create the rest of my prosthetics. These are my eyebrow prosthetics: These are my nose prosthetics:  17 th February 2021: Today I began experimenting with my prosthetics and loosely applied them to the face to get a vague idea of how they will look on the face. I applied an earpiece, cheek and nose piece to the face and practiced painting them.   1970s Research: The 1970s was extremely diverse and makeup ranged from very natural to very intense with different subcultures including disco and punk. Natural makeup was also popular. Blush was quite natural in terms of both colour and application and creams, powders and gel formulas were used. From the mid-1970s, blush became more intense and was in stripes across the cheeks sometimes even from the temples down. A tanned look was desired which means that bronzer was used to create a sun-kissed glow (Hair and Makeup Artist Handbook, 2013). Eyebrows ranged from very skinny and over-plucked to slightly thicker, skinny eyebrows were curved similar to how they were in the 1920s and thicker eyebrows were slightly shaped with an arch, these were similar to the eyebrows in the 1950s (Hair and Makeup Artist Handbook, 2013).
