Skill Demonstration:

13th January 2021:

I demonstrated my time management skills by creating a plan for my 2 days.

14th January 2021:

Today I completed my 1990s grunge makeup, and I am in a support bubble with my male model which meant that I didn’t have a wear a mask or visor when completing the makeup. This makeup was for film and TV which means that the males makeup consisted of straight HD makeup with smudged eyeliner on the upper and lower lashes. The female makeup consisted of a straight base with a dark smokey eye and a matte brown lipstick.


When completing these makeups, I demonstrated good organizational and hygiene skills as I had a clean and tidy makeup bay, and I used the cut away method for every product that was used, I also demonstrated good communication skills when completing the male makeup by speaking to my model to make them feel comfortable. I also was considerate of my performers feelings as they’re not used to wearing makeup.

When completing my developed makeup, I kept asking my model if the makeup was ok and that they were feeling ok with having the illusion of needle marks on their arm. I demonstrated good time management skills by following my time plan, I showed good evaluatory skills when evaluating my makeups and I showed a good understanding of the time period through my makeups.

1990s Research: Makeup in the 1990s was very varied and contained lots of different subcultures including heroin chic, grunge, indie, raves were still popular, and the Ibiza theme became very popular which meant that festivals were very popular.   Prosthetics Making and Experimentation: 15 th February 2021: Today I used my sculptures to create the rest of my prosthetics. These are my right ear prosthetics: These are my face and chin prosthetics: They will be separated before being put on the face. These are my eyebrow prosthetics: These are my nose prosthetics:  17 th February 2021: Today I began experimenting with my prosthetics and loosely applied them to the face to get a vague idea of how they will look on the face. I applied an earpiece, cheek and nose piece to the face and practiced painting them. This is the earpiece: This ear prosthetic fit really well, however, the paint could be slightly more blended to prevent the colours appearing blocky. 1970s Research

  1970s Research: The 1970s was extremely diverse and makeup ranged from very natural to very intense with different subcultures including disco and punk. Natural makeup was also popular. Blush was quite natural in terms of both colour and application and creams, powders and gel formulas were used. From the mid-1970s, blush became more intense and was in stripes across the cheeks sometimes even from the temples down. A tanned look was desired which means that bronzer was used to create a sun-kissed glow (Hair and Makeup Artist Handbook, 2013). Eyebrows ranged from very skinny and over-plucked to slightly thicker, skinny eyebrows were curved similar to how they were in the 1920s and thicker eyebrows were slightly shaped with an arch, these were similar to the eyebrows in the 1950s (Hair and Makeup Artist Handbook, 2013).
