 Halloween Look - Peeling Forehead Evaluation:

Makeup Design and Scenario: 

This makeup if for a TV series about the development of a serial killer.

After tasting the flesh from his wife's hand, the vet enjoyed it and wanted more so he decided to skin his wife so that he could eat her body, his mistress was still taking photos and this shows a photo of her forehead peeling which has been cut round the hairline. 


Makeup: 

















Evaluation: 

The silicone on the 'inside of the head' is well blended which means that the the paint didn't cling to the edges which would ruin the illusion, this overall gives a more realistic appearance. The blood work also helps trick the eye and helps cover any visible edges, however, if I was to do this again I would add more wounds to the face to add more to the look and give the impression that she was tortured before having her face removed. 

With this scenario, this makeup would be used in an 18 rated film but with a different scenario it could be used in a 15 rated film. This makeup would work as alcohol paints were used and they will last longer as they won't be affected by water as much as aqua paints would be, however, this look wouldn't work for stage as as the details would be lost in the distance. It may work for an event as the details can be seen from a short distance and the alcohol paints mean that the look won't be affected by weather changes such as rain. 

For continuity, a prosthetic could be used for the cut and I could also make this work for stage by using a thicker prosthetic and making the makeup more intense to allow it to be seen from a distance.

 26th September 2020 The Tudors and The Restoration: Henry VIII was the king of England from 1509 until he died in 1547 and he during his reign he had 6 wives. The first was Catherine of Aragon, they were married in 1509 and they had a daughter in 1516, who was Mary I. Henry and Catherine were married for 23 years until Henry divorced her as she didn’t provide him with a male heir.   1940s Research: The second World War started in 1939 and came to an end in September 1945, resulting in men and boys as young as 16 being sent to fight in the war, this meant that women were left at home and more women were going to work, they would work in the shops and factories while the men were away. Millions of lives were lost during the war with one of the biggest tragedies being the Holocaust which resulted in the mass genocide of 6 million Jews (History, 2009). Due to working during the war, women didn’t prioritise makeup however, it was still used. Due to rationing there wasn’t many products available meaning women had to be creative and often returned to using old techniques which were seen as outdated, but they were also referred to as being better than nothing.
