1970s Makeup Evaluation

 1970s Makeup Evaluation:

Makeup Designs:

This makeup is a recreation of Andrea Hall for a film about the Toolbox Killers, she was their second victim and Bittaker had taken polaroid pictures of her before throwing her body off a cliff. She had her mouth taped then she was raped multiple times before being stabbed in both ears with an ice pick and she was finally murdered by being strangled to death which means she has finger bruises and hand marks on her neck. This shows the before and after effects of the attack.

Makeup: Before the attack

Evaluation:

This makeup works for film & TV as the makeup works under intense, artificial and natural lighting and it works well on camera. However, this wouldn't work for stage as the makeup isn't intense enough which means the details will be lost due to the distance, however, I could make this work for stage by making the makeup intense enough to be seen from a distance.

This makeup fits the time period as the colours used were accurate and the pink lip gloss was also accurate as this was very popular during this decade. The focus was also on the eyes but the eyelashes were very natural, the hair was also accurate as many people had straight hair including the victim this makeup is based on.

However, to improve I could cover the blemishes on the face using concealer to make the base even and I could use some more blush to add more colour to the face. I could also tame the baby hairs to make the hair look neater and I could add some more volume around the crown of the head.

Makeup: After the attack

Evaluation:

This  makeup would work well for film & TV as the makeup works under natural, artificial and intense lighting and it works well on camera. Alcohol paints were used for the wounds which means they will last longer as they won't be affected by water as much as aqua paints would be and aqua paints were used for the running mascara which means water would make it run even more and add to the look. However, this wouldn't work for stage as the makeup isn't intense enough which means the details would be lost due to the distance, however, I could make this work for stage by making the makeup intense enough to be seen from a distance. For continuity purposes, pictures would be used to make sure the bruising and blood are in the same places.

Peer Assessment: Drew

Drew said that my makeup looked really good and that I used a great colour palette for the '70s. She also said that the special effects was amazing as the blood running from the ears and the running mascara was executed really well. Finally, she said that it would work really well for film & TV as it shows the before and after effects of the attack.

However, to improve she recommended doing something with the hair such as loose curls and taming the baby hairs to make the hair look neater. She also said that I could cover the blemishes on the face to make the base more even.
