Beginning the Design Process:

I analysed pictures of the Night King makeup, these pictures included pictures of the bust created to showcase the design and the makeup once it was applied. I then began to write which sections the prosthetics would be used mostly and decided to start the designs that I would make using the face cast, I constantly looked at pictures of the makeup from different angles when creating these first 3 designs to make sure they looked as close to the makeup I could make them. I used a regular pencil for this as the makeup is black, grey, and white and I have given a slight grey hue to my whole designs so that they stand out from the rest of the page even though this will not be needed when I experiment or complete the makeup.

I decided to create my designs for the separate prosthetics rather than drawing the whole makeup 3 times for my 3 different experimental techniques. These are my designs:

  Final Makeup Write Up: 11 th May 2021: Today, after all of my preparation and hard work, I was finally able to use my practical skills to create my final makeup. This is my final look: These are some photos of my process:  Evaluation: This makeup translated onto the face really well and looked how I had imagined it; grease and alcohol paints were used which means that the makeup would last longer if needed and there’s no chance of the makeup sweating off like aqua paints would which is very important for this look as any inconsistencies would be very obvious and would ruin the look. The colours were also the colours I had hoped for and the light complimented the colours extremely well.    The hair was also how I had imagined it and the curls weren’t too tight, I had also backcombed the hair so that it helped support the crown during the final photos.  26th September 2020 The Tudors and The Restoration: Henry VIII was the king of England from 1509 until he died in 1547 and he during his reign he had 6 wives. The first was Catherine of Aragon, they were married in 1509 and they had a daughter in 1516, who was Mary I. Henry and Catherine were married for 23 years until Henry divorced her as she didn’t provide him with a male heir. The Roman Catholic Church refused to approve the divorce, so Henry created the Church of England (History, 2020). This also caused lots of riots all over the country.   Catherine of Aragon, Imagno/Getty Images Henry’s second wife was Anne Boleyn, they were married in 1533 and Anne gave birth to their first child, who was Elizabeth I, in September that same year. 1990s Research

1990s Research: Makeup in the 1990s was very varied and contained lots of different subcultures including heroin chic, grunge, indie, raves were still popular, and the Ibiza theme became very popular which meant that festivals were very popular. Heroin chic was a look that consisted of pale skin, dark circles under the eyes and looking unhealthily skinny and almost emaciated. Some people described the models as looking skeletal and there was a public outcry as it glamourized drug use and eating disorders. Heroin became popular against middle classes and could be snorted rather than injected which removed some of the previous stigma, it was shown in fashion through unhealthily skinny models but also in films such as ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Trainspotting’ (The Recovery Village, 2019).
