Scorpio Research:

Scorpio is the eighth zodiac sign and it’s a water sign like no other. The dates for this star sign are 23rd October – 21st November and the planets that rule this sign are Pluto and Mars, scarlet, red, and rust are the colours most commonly associated with this sign (Astrology zodiac signs, 2021).

Scorpios have lots of positive traits, these include: (Astrology zodiac signs, 2021)

  • ·         Being very resourceful
  • ·         Passion
  • ·         A true friend
  • ·         Bravery
  • ·         Determined and decisive
  • ·         Great leaders
  • ·         Extremely loyal
  • ·         Intelligent

A trait that can be a positive or negative depending on the situation is that Scorpios can be very stubborn. Along with many positive traits, there’s also some negatives, these include: (Astrology zodiac signs, 2021)

  • ·         Being very distrusting
  • ·         Jealousy
  • ·         Secretive
  • ·         Sometimes violent and aggressive

Scorpio is also the only sign that has 4 symbols linked to it, these are: (Love to know, 2021)

  • ·         The scorpion
  • ·         The snake
  • ·         The eagle
  • ·         The Phoenix

The symbol for Scorpio is often said to depict the scorpion and that the arrow at the end of the M represents the stinger, another explanation is that it’s a phallic image as the Scorpio rules the sexual organs. The final explanation for this is depicted by people who are more spiritually inclines, this is that it’s a serpent as it’s spiraled up towards the 3rd eye as it represents Kundalini energy (Love to know, 2021).

Symbol of Scorpio

For survival purpose, scorpions are aggressive, defensive, hostile, and will strike if threatened they will strike. They glow under UV light and the sign of the Scorpio has been associated with magic while the protective attributes of a scorpion have been found in the sign of Scorpio (Love to know, 2021).

Scorpion

The scorpion is linked to the Mars aspect of the sign as it represents the aggressive and protective nature of the Scorpio while also representing the sexual nature as the mating process of a scorpion is often dangerous and can end in death and la petite mort is French for “the little death” referring to orgasms are an important part of the Scorpio’s sexual nature (Love to know, 2021).

Serpents are calm until they’re in danger when they will bite, the way it sheds its skin represents “renewal and rebirth, and regeneration” (Love to know, 2021).

Snake

The serpent links to the Pluto factor as Pluto is the planet of death and rebirth, the Scorpio’s fascination with danger, death, “the unseen and, the psycho-spiritual” is represented by the serpent and they stay calm but will strike if needed (Love to know, 2021).

Scorpios are very much like eagles as they can see the smallest things and spot things that others may not, this makes it easy for a Scorpio to spot when someone’s lying based on their voice and movements. They’re loyal and trustworthy but will make awful enemies (Love to know, 2021).

Eagle

A Phoenix is a mythical creature that’s considered to be very wise, intelligent, mature, and it represents the transformational energy within a Scorpio (Love to know, 2021).

Phoenix

Scorpio is the fixed quality of the change to autumn which is why it’s observed as a sign of death, the “constellation has been recognized by the Babylonians and its name can be translated to ‘the creature with the burning sting.” The star Antares is the biggest star of the constellation and it’s sometimes referred to as the ‘rival of Mars’ due to the red colour while also representing the heart of the scorpion. It is one of the 4 royal stars and it links to its Western location as it’s called the ‘Guardian of the West’ (Astrology Zodiac Signs, 2021).

There are many different forms of the myth, but they all end with Orion being stung by a scorpion and dying, there’s also the same sexual element of the myth which is that Orion is seduced by Eos, who is the goddess of the dawn and abducted by her which made Artemis jealous, and she sent another scorpion to sting Orion (Astrology Zodiac Signs, 2021).

One version of this myth is that Orion and Artemis were hunting partners which made her brother, Apollo, jealous so he asked Mother Earth to create a giant scorpion to sting him and kill him, Zeus then placed them into the heavens as constellations with Artemis as the heart of the scorpion (Greek Mythology, No Date).

Another version of the myth is that Orion wanted to kill a bull which made Gaia angry, so she sent a scorpion to sting him and prevent the kill (Astrology Zodiac Signs, 2021).

The final version I will give is the version that Orion threatened Artemis and her mother that he would kill every animal on the planet which made them angry, so they sent a scorpion to battle Orion which ended in his death (Astrology Zodiac Signs, 2021).
