Production 7 - Short Film

Image
Production 5 - Short film 18th May 2021: We did not have any planning for this short film, Drew and I were asked to complete this makeup as we are very experienced in casualty effects and we could complete this makeup to a high standard without any planning. I demonstrated my communication skills by asking the film students when they were filming and what they were hoping this slit throat would look like, we then demonstrated teamwork skills as Drew sculpted the slit throat and then I painted it and added blood. This is the slit throat:  This makeup worked as the edges of the silicone were well blended which prevents the paint clinging to the edges and alcohol paints were used which means they will last longer as they won’t be affected by water as much as aqua paints would be.  Only the neck would be shown on camera so we didn't need to complete a HD makeup on the face and when completing this makeup, I followed government guidelines by wearing a medical mask and visor ...

Skill Demonstration

Image
Skill Demonstration: 13 th January 2021: I demonstrated my time management skills by creating a plan for my 2 days. 14 th January 2021: Today I completed my 1990s grunge makeup, and I am in a support bubble with my male model which meant that I didn’t have a wear a mask or visor when completing the makeup. This makeup was for film and TV which means that the males makeup consisted of straight HD makeup with smudged eyeliner on the upper and lower lashes. The female makeup consisted of a straight base with a dark smokey eye and a matte brown lipstick. When completing these makeups, I demonstrated good organizational and hygiene skills as I had a clean and tidy makeup bay, and I used the cut away method for every product that was used, I also demonstrated good communication skills when completing the male makeup by speaking to my model to make them feel comfortable. I also was considerate of my performers feelings as they’re not used to wearing makeup. When completing...

Production 6 - Filmed Pantomime

Image
Production 6- Helping first years – Filmed Pantomime: 3 rd December 2020: Today the makeup artists went into college as normal, but the first years were doing makeup for a filmed pantomime, they were very far behind schedule so me and a couple of the other second years put ourselves forward, I looked at the designs and completed a straight makeup. When doing this makeup, I used HD products as the makeup would be shown on camera and I also took into consideration the lighting as it would be filmed on stage meaning that the lighting would be artificial and very intense, this meant that I used a darker shade of foundation to prevent the face looking washed out and the makeup didn’t need to be too intense as it wasn’t shown from a far distance. The base was flawlessly blended and even, and the makeup worked under intense, artificial, and natural lighting. When completing this makeup, I followed government guidelines by wearing a medical mask and visor and I avoided touching the ...

Lucie and I put ourselves forward for the makeup and I completed Freddie’s makeup, this consisted of a HD makeup. When completing this makeup, I followed government guidelines by wearing a medical mask and visor and I avoided touching the face with my hands as much as possible. The makeup was shown on camera under natural and artificial lighting and it worked well as he looked as though he had no makeup on. I also demonstrated good organizational and hygiene skills as I had a clean and tidy makeup bay, and I used the cut away method for every product that was used, I also demonstrated good communication skills by speaking to my performer to make them feel comfortable. Completing this makeup without any planning sh...

Image
Production 4 – Filmed Pantomime – Babes in the Woods: 2 nd December 2020: Today was the last day of filming for the pantomime and I wanted to contribute to the makeups in some way as I was unable to do any other makeups as I was unwell but today I portrayed a can-do attitude and remained professional to do 2 makeups for the final scene. 4 actors needed their makeups doing today so Emily and I put ourselves forward to complete these makeups. I used photographs of the looks that were completed by other makeup artists to make sure that the makeups looked the same for continuity purposes. I completed the makeup for Block and this makeup consisted of straight makeup with very rosy cheeks and some dirt on his face and neck. When doing this makeup I used HD products as the makeup would be shown on camera and I also took into consideration the lighting as it would be filmed on stage meaning that the lighting would be artificial and very intense, this meant that I used a darker shade of...

Production 3 - Horror Film - The Removal

Image
Production 3 - Horror Film - The Removal: 20 th October 2020: Myself, Drew, Morgan, and Phebe put ourselves forward for the horror film and we made a group decision that I would be the Head of Department for this production. After making this decision I emailed Kai, who was the set and costume designer for the film, and told him that I was HOD so all information between the film crew and makeup would be passed through me and he asked if it would be possible to have 2 actors in makeup for 10am the next morning. I discussed with the group who was able to do the makeup, Morgan volunteered, this demonstrated good communication skills.  I also created a design for Billy’s sister as I would be completing this makeup the following day. This is my design: 21 st October 2020: At 10am while Morgan was completing the makeup for the main character, which consisted of straight makeup and a bruise on the left eye, I used my communication skills while having a meeting with Kai to ...
