Production 7 - Short Film

Image
Production 5 - Short film 18th May 2021: We did not have any planning for this short film, Drew and I were asked to complete this makeup as we are very experienced in casualty effects and we could complete this makeup to a high standard without any planning. I demonstrated my communication skills by asking the film students when they were filming and what they were hoping this slit throat would look like, we then demonstrated teamwork skills as Drew sculpted the slit throat and then I painted it and added blood. This is the slit throat:  This makeup worked as the edges of the silicone were well blended which prevents the paint clinging to the edges and alcohol paints were used which means they will last longer as they won’t be affected by water as much as aqua paints would be.  Only the neck would be shown on camera so we didn't need to complete a HD makeup on the face and when completing this makeup, I followed government guidelines by wearing a medical mask and visor and I avoi

Final Evaluation - Whole Project Evaluation

Final Evaluation – Whole Project Evaluation: This evaluation will be where I evaluate this project as a whole, I will cover the problems I faced and how I overcame them, how feedback from others was useful, how the project challenged me and demonstrated my skills and finally, I will discuss how I think I have met the grading criteria. Problems I have faced: One of the first problems I faced after we were given our brief was thinking of a theme that could work for everyone and all of the different discipline and I overcame this problem by doing research on each of my ideas and then I used this research to evaluate how each theme would work for each discipline and I gave examples of this when presenting my initial ideas for the theme of the calendar. The next problem I faced was when I was doing research on my selected zodiac sign, as the zodiac is so old, finding reliable information can often be hard so to prevent finding any incorrect information, I checked multiple sources

Final Makeup Evaluation

Final Makeup Write Up: 11 th May 2021: Today, after all of my preparation and hard work, I was finally able to use my practical skills to create my final makeup. This is my final look: These are some photos of my process:  Evaluation: This makeup translated onto the face really well and looked how I had imagined it; grease and alcohol paints were used which means that the makeup would last longer if needed and there’s no chance of the makeup sweating off like aqua paints would which is very important for this look as any inconsistencies would be very obvious and would ruin the look. The colours were also the colours I had hoped for and the light complimented the colours extremely well.    The hair was also how I had imagined it and the curls weren’t too tight, I had also backcombed the hair so that it helped support the crown during the final photos. However, some of the edges of the prosthetics weren’t completely blended so they could be seen slightly, my paint didn’t c

Final Preparations

Image
Final Preparations: 29 th April 2021: Today I created my final design, my practice of the makeup allowed me to see what needed changing and what worked well on the face. When I created this design I considered my own skills, the practice, my research, the audience and that it's for a calendar. This is my final design: For my final design I decided to change some elements slightly, I changed the mouth to have a cut around the zip, this helps the zip blend into the skin a lot better and it will help to include some elements of casualty effects which is what I'm best at, I still wanted to have the contrast of the red skin and bright blue so the zips blue, I’ve decided to attach an actual zip rather than a prosthetic zip for ease and because there’s already so many prosthetics on the face but a nylon zip will be used to reduce the chance of nipping that a metal zip could provide. After some experimentation, I really liked the way the blue for the cheeks and eyebrows as wel
